2011 Hightlights & Happenings

• Celebrated 75 Years – gave away special gifts at Annual Meeting and brought back memories by submitting historical data and pictures each month in Country Living

• Compiled a member and employee 75thAnniversary Cookbook and passed out as gifts at our 2011 Annual Meeting

• Finalized improvements and upgrades to our JVS Substation in order to better serve the airport area and provide more options for back-feeding and switching power when necessary

• Set up a display and participated in Open House at the Coshocton County Career Center in February and also set up displays at the Tuscarawas and Coshocton County Fairs in the fall

• Scholarship winners were: 1st Places – McKayla Evans, Ridgewood High School & Bryce Pepper, River View High School. 2ndPlaces - Meredith Evans, Ridgewood High School & Clint McCurdy, River View High School. Youth Tour Winner to Washington D.C.:  Lydia Kneuss, New Philadelphia High School

• Assisted Frontier Supply in opening “Whit’s Frozen Custard”, located inside the Frontier Supply building

• Hosted the 10th Annual Customer Appreciation Day on May 6th in front of Frontier Supply Co. with over 1,000 people in attendance

• Continued supporting River View Jr. High School: Treated students and staff to a cook out on the last day of school, Kelly Kendall and Shelly Thompson judged the science fair and Kelly Kendall served as chaperone to 8thgrade students’ trip to Washington DC.

• Sponsored the 30thAnnual Coshocton Hot Air Balloon Festival held in June with employees serving on the Balloon Committee, working the T-Shirt booth, working on balloon crews and delivering propane

•Summer employees were Jared Miller and Steven Wachtel

• Over 1,100 members and guests attended the Annual Meeting held on July 29 at River View High School

• Board members were elected by mail and announced at Annual Meeting – R. Martin Daugherty was re-elected to District A-Coshocton County and Robert E. Wise was re-elected to District B-I, Tuscarawas County

• Mark Wills was re-elected to the Frontier Propane board  

• Steven K. Nelson, General Manager, was re-elected as chairman of Buckeye Power, Inc. Board of Trustees

• Returned approximately $220,000 in capital credits to current members and former members

• Continued various community service projects including setting ductile iron poles at the Coshocton County Fairgrounds and hanging quilt barn squares in Tuscarawas County

• Began “Frontier Power Community Connections Fund” which rounds up bills to generate funds to donate to worthwhile charities in our communities

• Kelly Kendall and Shelly Thompson volunteered at the annual Coshocton Jr. Fair Auction

• Replaced and rebuilt approximately 23 miles of line

• Rebuilt the entire Darling Substation

• Kyle Kiser and Adam Warren, right-of-way department helped to decorate Roscoe Village by hanging Christmas lights on the village Christmas tree

• Returned approximately $50,000 in credits on December electric bills for members who have a water heater control switch to help beat the peak

 

Frontier Power continues to remain active in our communities and strives to maintain our quality of service by implementing new technology. Many accomplishments were made during 2011 thanks to our board and employees. We look forward to continuing to serve our members in 2012 with upgrades to our system and programs benefitting our members and communities.
